This move trait, along with Power and Accuracy, shows how fast a move can hit or how many times an attack can be launched in a given time.

A move with a low attack cooldown is a fast move. A move with a high attack cooldown is a slow move. This is like re-charge moves. The fastest moves have an attack cooldown of 14. They are the quick moves such as Quick Attack, Vacuum Wave, Mach Punch, etc.

The slowest moves include the moves that induce stats such as Focus Energy, Iron Defense, etc. Some moves are measured by the type of a Pokemon such as Curse - a Ghost-type move that has an attack cooldown of 180 for non-Ghost type Pokémon like Slowbro and Onix while the cooldown is 18 for Ghost-type Pokémon such as Gastly, Haunter and Gengar.

To get the strongest move, compare the attack cooldown also. For example, Sludge Wave is stronger than Sludge Bomb. Sludge Wave is in terms of Power, but. Steps are:

1. Power - Sludge Wave: 95. Sludge Bomb: 90. Difference of 5 (Sludge Wave wins)

2. Accuracy - Both 100 (Tie)

3. Attack Cooldown - Sludge Bomb has a cooldown of 18, whilst Sludge Wave has a cooldown of 24.

In three attacks of Sludge Wave there can be four attacks of the slightly less powerful Sludge Bomb.
