Description
Celebi is a fairy-like Grass/Psychic-type Pokémon that can travel through time. Celebi are known to appear only during times of peace and travels through time to give warnings of terrible events that will occur in the future.
Celebi is a plot-relevant Pokémon that was added in Alpha v4.0 of PTD 1. Celebi appears in Celadon Gym, both as an ally and foe Pokémon. |
Ally Celebi
This good Celebi first appears in the cutscene for Celadon Gym. It came from the future--one year after the events of the game--to help free its past self. Celebi knows the protagonist from an encounter in Johto, claiming that the region will also be saved by the main character, thus hinting at the Johto sequel. This Celebi helps you in this level by healing your Pokémon with Celebi's Heal. In Rocket Hideout, it is shown to have returned to the future with the other Celebi.
Foe Celebi
This evil, mind-controlled Celebi is an enemy Pokémon in Celadon Gym. Like all the other Pokémon in the gym, it cannot be caught. It will attack your Pokémon by using Solar Beam. If you see it coming, remove your Pokémon from the map until it is out of range as it is very powerful and difficult to defeat.
However, it is possible to defeat it if you have either Charizard with Fire Blast, Butterfree or Venomoth with Bug Buzz, Victini with Fire Blast, or a Gengar with Shadow Ball (a Pokémon with Roar, Whirlwind, or Dragon Tail may also help as well so you can get more hits off of it). Perhaps the easiest way to defeat Celebi is by using a Pokémon that knows Perish Song. Attempting to defeat Celebi isn't recommended if you're trying to beat the level for the first time, as its Solar Beam can make most Pokémon faint in two to five hits. It comes after every other round, so be prepared to defend yourself or return your Pokémon back to their Pokéballs.
