Old Rod (Challenge Level)

There are many ways to beat this challenge. One method of doing this is by sending out Geodude with a Jigglypuff and both using Defense Curl. Once they pass the 2nd tree send out your Pidgey and let Geodude use Mud Sport. This will allow Pidgey to pass by unharmed. After Pidgey comes back he will die around Pikachu. You will have 60 energy here so send out Geodude, Clefairy and Jigglypuff all Defense Curling to pick up the Old Rod.

Another way is to send out Geodude with Defense Curl. Wait til the short fourth tree and send out Pidgey. Switch Geodude to Mud Sport and wait. Repeat when Pidgey faints.

Another easier way is to send out Clefairy with Minimize. This move highly raises Clefairy's evasiveness, so the Pikachu and the Geodude will be highly likely to miss you. Since it's only one Pokémon, you can send it out six times.
