About[]
Shiny Pokémon are much rarer versions of Normal Pokémon that have a different color scheme and gain 50% more EXP than Normal Pokémon.
They are characterized by a color scheme that differs from their Normal coloration, as well as a sparkle in their sprite. The difference varies from drastic, e.g. Shiny Gyarados, to more moderate, e.g. Shiny Pikachu, to almost unnoticable, e.g. Shiny Venonat.
Rates[]
Shiny Pokémon have a 1/8000 chance or 0.000125% chance of appearing in the wild in PTD 1.
- Shiny Pokémon always have a red HP bar, so you can catch them via Pokéball without having to lower their HP, this preventing accidental KOs.
- An alert will appear the instant a Shiny Pokémon appears.
- Shiny Pokémon have a glitter animation
- When it appears, the game pauses until you click on the screen. The screen reverts the play speed back down to x1 to help you ensure that you don't defeat the Shiny.
In Alpha v4.8 of PTD 1, Shiny Pokémon were removed from the wild, but were returned to the wild in Alpha v4.9 of PTD 1. In Alpha v1.72 of PTD 2, the legendary dogs were made available to be found in the wild, after about 3 years ago when they were available to be found in the wild in PTD 1 a year before PTD 2 was released and were then removed from the wild near the end of PTD 1. So this can be a great opportunity for you to get the legendary dogs.
You can obtain Shiny Pokémon from encountering it in Levels, Trading, Game Corner, Mystery Gift, Completing Achievements, and Completing Challenge Mode Levels.

Trivia[]
- Mew and Missingno are the only Pokémon programmed to never be Shiny in the wild in PTD 1, Missingno is only available to get through Mystery Gift code: SnDgames, Shiny and Shadow Missingno were Mystery Gifts back in 2012. You can also get a Normal Mew if you pay 1 SnD Coin in the adoption and you can get a Shiny one if you pay 20 SnD Coins. Shadow Mew is through Game Corner.
- Mew is Shiny Locked in PTD1 because people that spent 20 SnD Coins on them in the Pokemon Adoption would get mad at Sam if a Shiny one could be found in the wild.
