Description
Voltorb is a Pokémon that looks like a Pokéball with eyes, although without the button in the middle. When catching Pokémon in the wild some trainers mistake Voltorb for a Pokéball, throwing it instead, causing Voltorb to damage the wild Pokémon.
It was first seen in the plant where modern Pokéballs were invented. Voltorb and its evolution, Electrode, could be forms of energy, but it is unknown where that energy came from or how it created them. Because of the similarities with the Poké Ball, it has been suggested that Voltorb is an artificial Pokémon, created with some form of human involvement. If Voltorb is an artificial Pokémon, then it is made out of something solid, not energy. It is dangerous because it can self-destruct.
